How to care for your VYRA garment
A well-cared-for VYRA faja lasts 6–12 months of daily wear. A poorly washed one loses compression in 6 weeks. Follow these instructions to protect the structural compression that's doing the work for you.
Daily wear
- Put your faja on by pulling it up your legs — never pull it down over your head or shoulders, which stretches the fabric out.
- Fasten hook closures bottom to top.
- Zip after the hooks are secured.
- Adjust shoulder straps last.
Washing
- Hand wash only. Cold water, mild detergent — Woolite, a gentle laundry soap, or baby shampoo.
- Soak 15–20 minutes maximum.
- Squeeze gently — never wring or twist.
- Rinse twice with cool water until the water runs clear.
Drying
- Air dry only. Lay flat on a clean towel or hang from the shoulder straps.
- Never use a dryer — heat destroys spandex and latex.
- Never iron.
- Keep out of direct sunlight, which degrades elastic fibers.
What not to do
- No bleach, fabric softener, or strong detergents like Tide or Persil.
- No washing machine — even on a delicate cycle, the agitation breaks down the boning and the elastic.
- No dryer, no iron, no steam.
- Don't fold it or stuff it in a drawer — store it flat or rolled.
How often to wash
- Stage 1 (near-continuous wear): every 2–3 days, during whichever shower break your surgeon has cleared.
- Stage 2/3 (daily wear): once or twice a week.
- Keep two garments in rotation so one is always dry.
